Vázquez: "We need to match the intensity and go for it"
Featuring in the Valencia CF squad in recent games and playing minutes in the absence of José Luis Gayà and Toni Lato through injury, Jesús Vázquez continues his learning experience at the club this season. The defender talked to VCF Media before this weekend's game against Elche.
The regional derby with Elche
We know that it's going to be a tough game. We have to face it with a lot of desire in order to win. We're on a good run of victories and we had a very complete game at a difficult ground to go to in Getafe.
We'd been on a bad run, but in the end we managed to turn things around and got into the cup final. We're in a good dynamic now. We have to play away from home, but we have to win.
Elche's strengths
We know that they are a very intense team. We will have a lot of fans there, because it's fairly close to Valencia. Above all, we need to match Elche's intensity. We have to go for it.
Keeping clean sheets
Not conceding is very important. If you then manage to convert your chances, then it's much easier to get a result. We have a lot of desire to win again and are very united. Above all, we face this last part of the season with a lot of ambition.
Putting the Copa del Rey to one side
We know that there is the possibility of winning the Copa del Rey, but this has been put to one side for the time being until April 23rd. We have to focus on LaLiga and on winning match after match.
Getting more minutes
At the start of the season I wasn't getting as many minutes. You have to always be ready and train hard, because you never know when your moment will come. I've played a couple of games, and I hope I can play many more. I want to help the team. I'm happy.
Learning with the first team
José Luis Gayà and Toni Lato help me, above all. They always give me their best advice, thanks to their experience. The coach pushes me hard as well.
